Harlem Education Activities Fund (HEAF) Sports Day!

On August 2nd, the Hustle2Heart team partnered with the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) during the annual Summer Quest program. HEAF is a well-established college achievement nonprofit that helps over 600 NYC public school students to graduation. HEAF aims to help middle of the road students achieve academic success and develop leadership skills. At Mt. Morris Park, nearly 200 students participated in Field Day, which is part of the Summer Quest program. These students, primarily middle schoolers, competed in numerous challenges throughout the day, such as the Dizzy Bat, Egg Walk, and Three-Legged Race, in addition to playing classic sports games like football. Hustle2Heart provided equipment used for Field Day that was collected from numerous donation drives and helped organize the activities. All those who donated are thanked and should be aware that their contributions helped make some kids’ days! The Hustle2Heart team feels extremely grateful to have worked with the Harlem Educational Activities Fund and looks forward to helping kids grow athletically in the future.

COVID 19: NJ Care Packages

As COVID-19 continues to spread, it is important to do our part to help. New Jersey is the second-largest hotspot in the country, with the number of cases rapidly increasing each day.

In times like these, it is incredibly important to show kindness, care, and empathy toward one another. Hustle2Heart is starting “NJ Care Packages” to assemble and donate care packages for those at the frontlines.

We are designing each care package to include:

  • Two $25 gift cards to a local small business
  • One handmade thank-you card
  • One homemade mask (for personal use)
  • Freshly baked goods

Please consider donating gift cards or thank you cards to include in these care packages. If you can donate, please e-mail 2hustle2heart@gmail.com and we will respond within 1-2 hours about how you can make your donation. You will be able to track your donations and see where they were received throughout the process. We also accept monetary donations, in which we will purchase the gift cards to send to the healthcare workers.

We are donating our care packages to those working at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville and Morristown Memorial in Morristown.

Our sports camps

It has been found that low income youth are three times less likely to participate in athletics. Envision children with the inability to play with friends and relish in a game of basketball or soccer. All children should be entitled to enjoy their youth and connect with other kids in their community. Sports are one of the most connective activities for children, a way to meet new people and create new friendships.

Additionally, playing sports is not only a way to have fun and make new friends it is a method of exercise. Specifically, sports are a form of aerobic exercise, meaning the body is constantly active and mobile. In a study performed by the University of British Columbia regular aerobic exercise increases the size of the memory and learning center of the brain. In result, exercise stimulates the flow of endorphins through the body, engendering a more happy mood and causing the brain to learn better.

At Hustle2Heart, we believe that all children should have the opportunity to play sports. To that end, we hold sports camps for underprivileged children in different locations. Below are some pictures from some of our camps.
